According to the Urban Dictionary, BFFR is an acronym for “be f*****g for real”. The term is used to convince a person to “think clearly and make sense”.
This is appropriate when someone is “stupid” or in denial of a fact, they write.
The acronym made a splash on TikTok thanks to the sound generated by a user named liyahhh.38 on June 29, 2022. The user can be heard saying, “BFFR, what does that mean? Be fucking for real” to a video captioned “when this girl thinks I want her ugly ass.”
The original video has over 2.7 million views, and over 166,000 videos have been shared using sound.
Latto used BFFR while tweeting with Nicki Minaj.
Internet users are not the only ones who have added BFFR to their vocabulary; Latto, rap artist known for her breakthrough single Big Energy. tweeted Coming October 2022:

The tweet came in response to Nicki Minaj’s tweet after her hit single Super Freaky Girl was moved from rap to pop for Grammy nominations.
