An American has died after falling 20 meters off a cliff in Puerto Rico while filming a TikTok video.
Edgar Garay was sightseeing in Cabo Rojo, located on the southwestern coast of the island, and fell on Sunday afternoon.
The 27-year-old’s brother Carlos Garay said the cousin warned Edgar not to get too close to the edge of the cliff, WTHR reported.

“My brother has a TikTok account that he liked uploading videos to,” Carlos said.
“Unfortunately, that’s what he was trying to do when he was closer to the edge than he should have been.”
Carlos said the cousin was walking away from the edge of the cliff when Edgar disappeared.
The U.S. Coast Guard and Puerto Rican emergency services located and recovered Edgar’s body from an underwater cave on Monday afternoon.
He received serious head injuries.
“We express our most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Edgar Garay and pray that they find a way out and strength at this most difficult time,” said Coast Guard Captain Jose E. Diaz.
Carlos said that his younger brother was full of life and a bit of a daredevil.
“Our friends called him ‘Chuvei’ because of his fluffy cheeks. It just sort of stuck,” he said.
Edgar was born in Puerto Rico but his family moved to Columbus, Indiana when he was about 5 years old.
His family wants to bring him home to Columbus so he can be buried.
