Two Adelaide teens were over the Jetstar luggage limit when travelling home. So they tried to wear 6kg of clothes

Two Adelaide teens have gone viral for trying to dress under Jetstar’s strict luggage limit, opening their suitcases at Melbourne airport and taking as much weight on themselves as possible.

Adriana Ocampo and Emily Altamura, both 19, were flying home earlier this month when they realized their luggage weighed almost twice the Jetstar allowance of 7kg.

So teenagers did what any savvy modern woman would do and started pulling clothes out of their luggage, putting them on over what they were already wearing.

Showing the process on the now viral TikTok on her @feeling.lucki account, Ocampo tried to hold back her laughter as she tucked the iPad down her pants.

The couple displayed their open luggage on the airport floor in a desperate attempt to reduce the weight of the luggage.

Unfortunately, in the end, the women were not so lucky when the staff didn’t find their antics as funny as the internet.

They were the last ones in their flight after changing clothes.

“They kind of wanted us to fail,” Ocampo said. “I feel like they were happy when they caught us at the end.”

There is definitely room for improvement in their technique, the teenager told 7NEWS.

“I think you can say that there is some skill in it,” Ocampo said.

“I felt like a girl who eats chewing gum and explodes.

“That’s exactly how I felt.

“I couldn’t move my arms or legs,” Altamura said.

“I just felt all those layers. When I moved, they all moved with me.”

Whatever the case, Ocampo said the staff were helpful when it came to their future travels.

“They were actually giving us advice for the next time,” Ocampo said.

“You know, ‘oh, next time bring a pillowcase and stuff.’

While Jetstar sees the funny side, it says carry-on restrictions exist for a reason.

The airline said the restriction is an important safety measure and ensures that all passengers have enough space.

The teens paid $65 for excess baggage, arriving home with heavier but lighter wallets.
