TikTok users are trying to convey to people the infamous date April 24, 2023, but many confuse this date with February 24, 2023, and what exactly happens on this day?
ATTENTION! Disturbing content ahead
Social media has grown in popularity as it has become the only place where people can find new trends and keep up with the world. While some have been entertaining, others have been labeled harmful.
This includes trends such as the Blackout challenge, the Devious Link trend, the Magnet challenge, and many more. The last thing to be added to the list is the February 24 trend.
February 24 is confused with the April 24 trend.
Some users have confused the February 24 trend with the April 24 trend glorifying the criminal act of sexual assault. Several people have taken to referring to the date as National Rape Day. It is by no means an official or national day.
Although the April 24 trend first became known in 2021, people are confusing the dates and mentioning February 24 instead. Some users managed to correct themselves in the comments section and clarify what they meant by the April 24th trend.
At this point, it is unclear how this false news came about. However, it didn’t take long for others to seize on it or warn others about it.
Both men and women on social media like TikTok are warning people about this trend and urging everyone to stay safe.
TikTok users raise awareness of the trend
As users correct themselves and point out that this is not a February 24 trend, but April 24, others are urging everyone to stay safe.
One user wrote: “Take care of yourself every day, but especially on April 24th.” Another added: “Stay wise!!!” “Some people are not people. Take care of everyone,” read another comment.
“I’m terrified. Take care everyone,” wrote another user. “Dear sir, please protect all women and girls who will be in danger on this day, and please stop this day,” wrote another.
To clarify again, the day does not exist. The date went viral after a fake video was filmed to elicit a reaction from users. The controversial clip also chose a date to spread more insults as it happens during Sexual Awareness Month. However, if you stumble upon any video on this topic and it makes you feel uncomfortable, we strongly encourage you to report it immediately.
Since it first started in 2021, there have been no official reports of any attacks related to the false national day.
