The Grammy Awards is the biggest night of music, an opportunity for fans around the world to honor and celebrate the best and brightest performers in contemporary music. Yesterday’s ceremony was also a big night for us at TikTok, as many of our community’s favorite artists have joined the sacred ranks of GRAMMY winners!
One of the main winners of the evening was Lizzothe self-proclaimed “Queen of TikTok” who took home Record of the year for her mega hit “About Cursed Time” (more than 4.1 million videos created). The magnetic superstar delivered some of the show’s best moments with her gospel-inspired performance, “Specialand her uplifting acceptance speech that preaches the positivity and authenticity that make her a favorite of the TikTok community.
Sam Smith And Kim Petras brought down the house with their devilish performance “Unholy(over 2.5 million creations). First published as a snippet on TikTok, before becoming the first Billboard #1 Hot 100 hit of any artist’s career, “Unholy” earned the dynamic duo a GRAMMY for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.
breakthrough star Steve Lacy also took the stage, making the ceremony 100% more fun with his TikTok hit. “Bad habit” (702 thousand creations). In his performance he was assisted by the virtuoso “Them Changes” (more than 1.1 million creations). thunder catLacey won his first career GRAMMY award last night, taking top honors in Best Progressive R&B Album category for excellent Gemini Rights.
Last night, #Beyhive queen Beyoncé rewrote the record books with her four Grammy wins, becoming the most decorated person in the award’s 65-year history. Her Best Dance/Electronic Album winner RENAISSANCE took the community by storm last summer bringing popular hits with it”BREAK MY SOUL” (more than 200 thousand creations) and “CUFF(2.8M+ creations), not to mention Best Traditional R&B Performance winner “Plastic off the couch,” which inspired the creators to warm up the vocal muscles with the #PlasticOffTheSofaChallenge.
Album of the Year went to TikTok fan favorite Harry Stylesfor his colorful 2022 feature film Harry’s house. The album produced several popular hits that were inevitable throughout most of the year, most notably “How it was” (4M+ creations), “Music for Sushi Restaurant” (525,000+ creations) and “Satellite” (110k+ creations).
Another big blockbuster from last summer bad rabbit Un Verano Sin Tiwon a competitive award for Best Musica Urbana Album. El Conejo opened the awards show with a live medley paying homage to the Caribbean’s rich musical history. The stars shone brightly during the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, which was also a huge event for rising artists who have used TikTok to launch their careers. Best New Artist winner Samara joy may seem like an outsider, but she is very familiar with the TikTok community – she has won over 220,000 loyal fans with her exquisite vocals and gentle jazz songs.
R&B singer Mooney Long won Best R&B Performance for her hit “Clock and Clock” (1.7M+ Creatones) which was released via Sound on, the all-in-one TikTok music distribution platform, and gained momentum on TikTok for the first time. Meanwhile, a hot rock band from the Isle of Man wet foot (541 thousand subscribers) won Best Alternative Album for their debut and Best Alternative Performance for a trend hit “chaise longue.”
