Lainey Wilson on Joining ‘Yellowstone’ Cast – Billboard
Lainie Wilson expanded her talents from country music to television. Singer-songwriter “Heart Like a Truck” debuted in the fifth season of the series yellowstone last year and discussed why she wanted to try her hand at something else during Thursday’s episode The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“Songwriting has always been number one for me, no matter what, but I loved country music — where I come from, in northeast Louisiana, it’s a city of 200 people, it’s a little town called Baskin. We eat, sleep and breathe country music, so I focused on that,” Wilson told the host.
After Wilson was given the chance to play Abby in yellowstoneIt was an offer she couldn’t refuse. “When the opportunity arose. I thought, “This will be an opportunity for me to share my music with the world, damn it, I’ll take it.” Let’s do it,” she told the talk show host, adding that the move “went out of that comfort zone” and “did something a little scary.”
Wilson’s “Watermelon Moonshine” appeared on the December 11 episode of The Paramount Show, earning it a No. 1 spot on the Top TV Songs chart. The country starlet performed the song as her character in this episode.
Earlier this month, Wilson took the stage at Billboard Women in Music 2023 at the March 1 ceremony to perform her hit “Heart Like a Truck” and receive this year’s Rulebreaker Award.
