Explored Shmunguss on Netflix
A TikTok user going by the name Channel Everything recently posted a video on the social media platform, which was shared on Twitter.
In the video, someone explains that they are at their friend’s house, scrolling through Netflix. “Can anyone tell me what these categories are?” he asks, scrolling down and reaching a category labeled “Shmunguss”.
In the category we see such movies or shows as The Shmunguss King, I Married A Shmunguss, The Shmonguss Among Us and Shmonguss’ Revenge.
One hears someone cite a VPN as an explanation for the unusual category and titles.
Since the video was uploaded, it has received 512.9k likes.
Is the Shmunguss category on Netflix legit?
The Shmunguss category on Netflix is not genuine and the movies and shows displayed in the TikTok video category do not exist. You won’t find the titles or categories when you search for them on Netflix.
There are some telltale signs that will tell you it’s not authentic. Firstly, the first movie shown is The Shmunguss King and it is said to be a 2012 movie starring real life actor Paul Giamatti. However, the American actor best known for Billions and Sideways has never been in a movie like this.
In addition, the video suggests that the series I Married A Shmunguss is #2 on TV Shows Today and has had three seasons since 2019. If you google the series or type it into a search engine, you’ll find that it doesn’t exist.
While many are absolutely stunned, the Shmunguss Netflix category is an elaborate joke or prank with an A for effort.
