How to deep clean toilet: Aussie cleaner reveals the hidden spot you’re forgetting to scrub every time
A professional cleaner found a hidden spot that most people miss when cleaning the toilet, and it’s pretty annoying.
Casey Stevens runs Melbourne-based cleaning service The Big Cleaning Co and frequently posts videos to her TikTok account sharing her latest tips that Australians can use every day to improve their cleaning game.

In one of her latest videos, she shared the raw reason why your toilet can smell so bad, even if you have a crack in cleaning it.
“Here’s how a professional cleans a toilet thoroughly,” she said in the video.
“If you have little boys in your house – or even big boys – and your toilet always smells like a urinal, even after you clean it, then this is for you.
“First, unscrew the nuts under the toilet and put them somewhere where they can be disinfected.
“Then you lift the whole seat and see why it smells so bad.”
Under the toilet seat was completely dirty.
“Yeah, that’s what you think,” Stevens said.
The video went viral, racking up almost 50,000 views on TikTok and hundreds of comments.
“Throw it all away,” wrote one person.
“Ugh, now I’m afraid to look at my toilet,” said another.
“I’ve cleaned the kids’ bathroom so many times that the smell annoys me. Now I’m going to do it to see if it helps,” said a third.
How to clean it
Stevens said to use “hot soapy water” to clean the toilet seat.
To remove yellow stains from all over the toilet, Stevens also suggested using “some kind of cleaning paste” like Gumption.
But other users also had some suggestions on how to clean a dirty, smelly toilet bowl.
“Spray Clorox all over the toilet and let sit for 20 minutes, then wash with liquid soap and water. Spray it with bidet cleaner while combing it,” someone suggested.
