Here’s what they probably won’t tell you in the special: The Beach Boys have never won a Grammy in competition despite four nominations. Since then, Grammy voters have decided they love it — and The Beach Boys in particular. The band received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy in 2001. Wilson was named MusiCares Person of the Year in 2005. Five Beach Boys records have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, which is a second chance for a Grammy to reward the deserving. records they might have missed the first time.
Since the heyday of The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson has received six more Grammy nominations, winning twice – Best Rock Instrumental Performance for “Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow (2004) and Best Historical Album Smile Sessions (Deluxe Box Set)) (2012).
