New Music Friday this week is filled with brand new tracks from Taylor Swift, BTS Jimin, Melanie Martinez and more.
To further wake up fans ahead of Swift The Eras Tour, due to kick off Friday, March 17, in Glendale, Arizona, the pop icon has released not one, but four tracks: “Taylor’s Version” includes “If It Was a Movie”, “Safety” and “Open Eyes” and “All the Girls You’ve Loved Before”, an unreleased track by her Beloved era. The Girls sees the 33-year-old reflect on her past mistake with an air of gratitude as she paved the way for a better future for herself. “Every dead end led you straight to me,” she sings in the chorus.
Jimin is the latest member of BTS to embark on a solo career and he gave fans a sneak peek at his upcoming album. FACE (scheduled for March 24) with the release of the lead single “Set Me Free, Pt. 2”. Jimin takes on his haters with a defiant hip-hop track about “determination, passion and overcoming” any obstacles in his path. “I thought it was important to be the one who liberates himself and not someone else,” he said of the track in an interview with Consequence. “After all, I’m the one who has to free myself.”
Melanie Martinez also suggested a new tune, stating that she has “resurrected from the dead” on the new track “DEATH”. The singer says goodbye to her Crybaby character, taking on a rebirth and an electronic synth sound for her. Portals a cycle of albums that promises to be one of the most ambitious.
