A TikTok video has spread Elliot Gindy’s death rumors flying all over the place a week after former voice actor Tignari was fired from Genshin Impact.

Elliot Gindy is an American voice actor based in Brooklyn, New York. He was the voice of Genshin Impact character Tignari until Hoyoverse, the game’s developer, announced that he would be recasting the role last week after a number of allegations were made against Gindi.

Now, rumors of the voice actor’s death have been rampant online and appear to be linked to a TikTok video that has been viewed almost 240,000 times at the time of writing. It is important to note that the death rumors are unfounded and unconfirmed.

TikTok Video Claims Elliot Gindy Is Dead

On February 28, a TikTok user posted a news post-style video claiming that Elliot Gindy had died.

The voice-over states: “Last night, renowned American voice actor Elliot Gindy was found dead in his apartment. The cause of his death is still unknown, but we assume it was suicide.”

Despite the hashtags “fake”, “fake” and “edit” appearing in the TikTok caption, many viewers seem to have taken the information at face value. One user wrote: “Is this a confirmed truth or just a rumor?”

The second user commented, “I feel really bad, but I won’t forgive him for doing something terrible.”

The creator of the video confirmed that this is a fake

The rumor of Elliot Gindy’s death spread on Twitter, where Genshin fans continued to seek clarification. It looks like the response came in the form of a tweet with a screenshot of the comment, in which the creator of the original video confirms that it is fake.

I heard from the creator of the video that this is fake news, she used an artificial intelligence voice to make it sound more realistic in the news and then put it in the video!! pic.twitter.com/qKmdcUD6Py

The tweet also claims that the creator used an AI voice to make the voice-over sound like a legitimate news broadcast.

Gindi announced he would be taking a step back from social media after confirming that some of the accusations were true and apologized for the claims made against him. He has since deactivated all of his social media accounts.

Elliot Jinid fired from Genshin Impact after allegations

On Thursday, February 16, Genshin Impact announced via twitter that Elliot Gindy would no longer be voicing the character Tignari “due to breach of contract.”

The thread explains that a new actor will be chosen to voice the character in future versions of the game, and existing in-game voice lines that use Gindi’s voice will be gradually overwritten.

The topic was closed with the words: “Thank you for your support, travelers!”
