A video uploaded to TikTok shows a group in hoodies stacking boxes of alcohol, including Cruisers raspberry vodka, cider, whiskey and cola, into carts.
The thieves managed to cover their faces before running out of the store with carts full of them.
In the footage, disgruntled employees and customers who witnessed the robbery can be heard shouting at the men.
“Hope you guys are proud!” one man shouts.
“Damn bastards.”
The video quickly gained a lot of attention on TikTok, racking up over half a million views and over 2,000 comments.
There was a heated debate in the comments on the publication about whether these witnesses should have intervened.
Why didn’t anyone stop them? one person asked.
“For the first few seconds, it was pretty obvious that these people weren’t paying…why was the door open?” added another.
However, others agreed that those in the store were right to stay out of the way and not put themselves in harm’s way.
“No stock is worth the potential harm to you or others, you could get in trouble for trying to get in the way of people,” one person suggested.
“Let them go, it’s not worth the risk. Karma will overtake them,” added another.
A South Australian Police spokesman confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au that the incident was under investigation.
“Patrol responded to reports of a theft from a liquor store on Waterloo Corner Road, Burton, just before 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14,” the statement said.
“Four robbers loaded carts with alcohol and fled without paying. There were no reports of casualties during the incident.
“The investigation into the theft continues.
